YouTube unveiled new parental controls on Wednesday, allowing parents to monitor their teenagers’ account activities without accessing content directly.
Sarah Thompson, YouTube’s Head of Family Experiences, stated, “This feature balances teen privacy with parental oversight in the digital age.”
The tool tracks uploads, subscriptions, and comments, sending email notifications for new content. Importantly, it doesn’t affect teens’ content recommendations.
Digital safety expert John Miller called it “a significant step in youth protection.”
The feature rolls out globally this week through YouTube’s Family Center and Google’s Family Link app.
