Singapore’s Validus secured $50 million from HSBC to support MSME lending in Indonesia. The funds will address financial inclusion challenges for small businesses, which contribute 61% of Indonesia’s GDP but receive only 20% of bank loans.
Validus, operating since 2015, uses a supply chain-focused lending model across Southeast Asia. The company reports 69% CAGR in revenues over three years and aims for positive cash flow by next year.
This funding highlights the growing importance of alternative lending platforms in supporting underserved SMEs in emerging markets.
