Meta’s social app Threads has reached a major milestone, announcing it now has 275 million monthly active users (MAUs). This represents a rapid growth trajectory, with the platform gaining 75 million users in just the past three months.
Adam Mosseri, the Meta executive leading Threads and Instagram, expressed gratitude for the community’s support, while acknowledging there is still more work to be done to improve the platform.
Threads was launched in July 2023 as a direct competitor to Elon Musk’s X platform, aiming to capitalize on the exodus of users leaving X after Musk’s acquisition. The app has seen incredible user adoption, crossing 150 million MAUs in April and 200 million in August.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg previously revealed that Threads is gaining 1 million new signups per day. However, the platform is facing moderation challenges that have frustrated some users.
Despite these issues, Threads’ rapid growth has solidified its position as one of the largest text-based social networks. The milestone demonstrates Meta’s ability to quickly build and scale a new social platform to compete with rivals in the evolving social media landscape.
