On October 8, 2024, Brazil’s Supreme Court lifted the 39-day suspension of X Brasil Internet Ltda., formerly Twitter, after the company complied with court orders, appointed a legal representative, and paid R$28.6 million in fines.
The suspension, issued on August 30, followed non-compliance with Brazil’s “Marco Civil da Internet.” The company’s return marks a significant step in Brazil’s enforcement of local laws on global tech platforms.
