Feeling the Pinch of Apple’s 30% Service Fee? Discover How to Minimize Its Impact

According to the latest news by Apple, advertisers purchasing Facebook and Instagram ads via iOS devices will be subject to a 30% fee since its inception on July 1, 2024. This means that any ad purchases made through Apple phones or mobile devices will be considered in-app purchases and must incur a commission.

The news does not affect domestic overseas customers. The reason behind this is that Apple only imposes a 30% fee on ad purchases made on Apple devices. Domestic overseas customers primarily use agency accounts or make ad payments on PCs through card binding, avoiding the need to recharge through Apple’s system. This behavior is mostly seen among small individual users, such as when they use the boost button on their fan page posts and then proceed to pay via Apple.

A Look at Retaining 30% Service Fees on Apple's Total Ad Payment

Regarding the Apple tax policy, Meta has issued an announcement suggesting users utilize the PC version for ad recharge and operations. It should be noted that From July onwards, promoting Boosted Posts via the Facebook and Instagram iOS apps will incur a 30% service fee from Apple, and this fee is not inclusive of tax.

Advertisers can legally avoid the service fee by following these methods:

  • Pre-recharge: Recharge the account using the desktop version in advance and pay for promoted posts using the account balance. (Help Center)
  • Promote via Desktop MBS or Ads Manager: Set up post ads using the Meta Business Suite or Ads Manager on a desktop computer. (Recommended)
